What to Expect

Your therapist will ask you several questions related to your sport or where you’re feeling the pain, if you feel pain while doing certain motions. (Particular muscles of course do different things). Every motion has muscles that initiate, support and work against it. This creates balance and stability. Pain in a certain direction or movement can give clues as to where the problem lies. Because of this it is possible to feel pain in the same spot, but a different muscle may be causing it.

During your sessions, we may do some muscle testing, and sometimes check the alignment of the hips, if you have low back pain or leg discomfort, and/or check ROM on any joints related to the injury. Your therapist will focus on those regions that cause pain whenever you’re doing your particular sport.

It’s like peeling back an onion, as there are always layers. The therapist will work backwards from where your pain is. Stretching is a big part of an athlete’s session.

You can choose a 30, 60 or 90 minute session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you use different tools and modalities?

Yes, we can use a IASTM tool for scraping to break up adhesions and increase circulation. We also have a stim unit similar to a TENS unit, but much more focused; a massage gun, which promotes recovery after an injury; and cupping, which improves blood flow and reduces inflammation.

How long will it take to get better?

Every injury and body is different, so unfortunately we are unable to answer that, particularly if you continue to play your sport. Everyone responds differently to care, but we aim to speed up the healing process with treatment.
